O4O online Media Kit
Organics for Orphans (O4O) is a faith-based Canadian NGO based in Ontario Canada. The bulk of O4O’s work is in Kenya, where they have an organic gardening, training centre which can accommodate up to 40 students at a time. Local Kenyan staff run the school.
Founded in 2008 by Linda and Dale Bolton, O4O has grown rapidly and now has several hundred community projects, where local groups grow organic, nutritious food. Initially, the Boltons, who had been moved by the plight of Orphans in Africa, wanted to help orphanages provide more nutritious food. This quickly evolved into a larger goal of teaching communities about nutrition and how to grow their own organic food.
The one-month training or “Growing Health Seminar” is conducted in the centre in Kitale, Kenya. There is also a two-year internship program for students who want to work with O4O in their own countries or other Africa Countries.
O4O is now working in eight African Countries. Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Liberia, Congo, Sudan.
Funding for projects comes from Natural Calm Canada, a social enterprise, started by the Boltons, which sells Natural Health products across Canada. Other funding comes from churches and individuals who support O4Os work.
