Garden Manager Training Program – To change an organization
Organizations often create residential programs for schooling and/or orphan care projects. Often the food has calories but is very limited in terms of nutrients. The skills needed to create a year round diet of disease fighting food is critical for these programs to accomplish there goals. Often children suffer with the serious sicknesses that plague tropical countries.
A 6 to 9 month internship gives the future garden manager skills in crop planning, building the soil in a larger garden, using volunteers and food preparation.
We see this position as critical not only for the health of residential programs but also cutting cost so that the organization can use their resources to accomplish their goals. We also feel that when kids grow up being involved in gardening they gain critical life skills
